Born and raised in Singapore, Dr. Kwa had stops in New York, Maine and Texas on his way to Kansas.
Now the Thompson-Ferrari Endowed Business Chair and Professor of Business at Sterling College, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Maine, and earned his Masters and Ph.D. at Texas A&M University.
Dr. Kwa then remained in College Station as a visiting professor and coordinating instructor for the Academy of Future International Leaders at his alma mater.
Dr. Kwa brings to Sterling College recognized expertise in urban and regional science with an emphasis in finance and real estate development. He is also a lecturer on the Asian business environment.
Although Sterling College is located in Rice County, just north of Reno County, Dr. Kwa and his wife, Gladys, chose to live in Hutchinson.
He's found the people here exceptionally friendly and helpful which he attributes to the agrarian heritage of this area. Obviously interested in education, he feels the school systems and Hutchinson Community College are very good.
Dr. Kwa particularly appreciates the amenities in Hutchinson, citing
such attractions as the Cosmosphere, Underground Salt Museum, Dillon Nature
Center, and picturesque Carey Park. He also notes it is a big plus to have
one of the top ranked golf courses in the world (Prairie Dunes). He
described his visit to the Kansas Underground Salt Museum as "unique, fantastic,
amazing...I've
never had an experience like that before!"
